DIY (Discover it Yourself) Pensacola Bike Tour Details
Island Cruiser Tour
This DIY (Discover it Yourself) tour can be of varying lengths depending on how long you want to ride and how many stops you make. This tour is all about just relaxing and going for a bike ride through the white sand dunes with the clear, sparkling, emerald-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the blue calm waters of Santa Rosa Sound on the other. The trail itself is flat with a few small ups and downs thankfully to vary things up a bit. The surface is paved making it suitable for any level rider. In the warmer months we recommend starting as early as you can do, as the heat gets intense quickly in the Florida sun. On this ride you will be fully exposed to the sun so sunscreen is a must. Situated at the eastern end of Pensacola Beach much of the ride is within the Gulf Islands National Seashore. This trail is removed from the tourist area of Pensacola Beach and offers beachgoers a chance to explore and experience a relatively unspoiled section of a Northwest Florida barrier island. There are no homes or businesses along the dunes trail, nothing but beach as far as the eye can see. The dunes trail is around 2.5 miles to its terminus so a total 5 miles. The ride can be made longer, up to 20 miles, if you would like to leave from the main beach area and ride through the residential portion of Pensacola Beach paved bike path. Like stated earlier this is a DIY tour. You will be riding on 1 speed beach cruisers. We will deliver them to your starting point and pick them up when you are finished. Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail in Orange Beach, Alabama
This is not one of my tour destinations but it is close by and an excellent place for paved trail biking with a backcountry feel so I decided I would put it out there for locals and visitors alike. These trails wind through swamps with alligators, through fields of...
What bike do I ride?
A question I get a lot is "what kind of bike do you ride?". On the Fatbike tours I normally ride one of the Motobecane FB4s exactly like the client bikes. But while a fatbike, with 4"+ tires, is great for sandy trails, they're not as fast or nimble as a traditional...
